MEDIUM: Turned Wood
All of my woodturnings were created on a wood lathe. Many of them have been carved and sculpted to achieve flowing and organic shapes inspired by nature. I like to use found wood, trees cut to clear construction sites, power lines or trees damaged by storms. Many of these trees would otherwise be headed for the landfill or fireplace. I have always admired the beauty and grandeur of trees. Woodturning is a way to combine the beauty of these wonders and my artistic talents to create unique pieces that allow the trees beauty to be admired for many years beyond its natural life. I put a lot of effort into the finishing process of each piece. All of my pieces have a Tung oil based finish that has been hand rubbed to create a soft luster that begs to be touched.
