MAIN ENTRANCE

 

The bowl of this jewelry box was turned and carved from a block of Pink Ivory, which is a very beautiful, hard wood from Africa. It is also one of the rarest woods in the world. The pedestal and finial were turned and carved from a block of Ebony, also an incredibly dense wood from Africa. The inspiration for this piece was botanical, but I did not attempt to imitate any particular plant form. Instead I tried to emulate lines and shapes that would exist in nature. Upon completion, this piece was immediately sucked into the personal collection of my wife Linda.
